We live in NY. My wife and I decided to get a divorce back in November 2007.  Everything was proceeding nicely until the stock market started to tank!  We had agreed to split things 50/50, however, now that the value of the account is down 20%, my wife is insisting that the value of the account was established the day she filed for divorce. I think it's the value of the account the day the divorce documents are signed.
